The Tucson, AZ Desert Museum
While quarantining in 2020, (as one did in 2020), my family and I stayed in a home on a dirt road on the very outskirts of Tucson. It was raw and so rugged, and we loved it! It was fun to let the kids run around and not worry about the UPS truck driving 40mph down our street (yeah, I called you out).
While we were there, we went to the Desert Museum which was also outside of town on a clear, very windy, and honestly, not warm day! BUT, it did not matter because the gardens they had on display were breathtaking! I just kept walking around yelling to my husband (I had to yell because he was nowhere near me as he was chasing our 1 year) “MY MIND IS BLOWN!” Why? Well, first off, you have a beautiful backdrop of saguaro cactus and beautiful mountains (PS: Tucson seems to me to be a much lusher natural desert landscaping that Phoenix). Additionally, some of the plant species that they had were some I had never seen before, so to me it felt magical! I could have walked around their cactus garden section for hours but, PSA: toddlers and cacti do not mix.
I think non-plant nerds might not understand the coolness and rarity of some of the plants they had, but I think everyone could appreciate the beauty. Take a look for yourself below! Have you ever been here? What is your favorite botanical garden?
